We are seeking a skilled Test Engineer to join our hardware and firmware validation team, specializing in Bluetooth Mesh networking solutions.

In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for comprehensive testing of Bluetooth Mesh-enabled devices, ensuring reliability, performance, and compliance across diverse deployment scenarios.

You will work closely with firmware developers, hardware manufacturers, suppliers and product teams to identify issues early, verify fixes, and maintain high-quality standards for production releases.

You will build, document and maintain testbeds representing typical deployment scenarios for different target markets such as hospitality, corporate, industrial, commercial and dining/entertainment.

You will build, document and maintain showrooms, demonstration kits and the company headquarters lighting network itself.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute detailed testing plans for individual devices, covering functionality, interoperability, stability, and edge cases in Bluetooth Mesh networks.
  • Create and maintain testing plans, functional diagrams, and test reports for “typicals" : representative model deployments simulating real-world use cases in target industries e.g.
    hospitality
    corporate offices
    industrial facilities
    commercial spaces
    restaurants
    entertainment venues
  • Perform physical setup tasks, including wiring devices, flashing firmware, and performing upgrades via over-the-air (OTA) or wired methods.
  • Identify, reproduce, document, and track bugs with clear, detailed reports including steps to reproduce, logs, network captures, and expected vs. actual behavior.
  • Conduct pre-release firmware testing to validate new features, performance improvements, and overall system readiness for production deployment.
  • Verify bug fixes through regression testing and targeted validation cycles.
  • Design, configure, and set up product demonstration kits for internal stakeholders, customers, or trade shows, showcasing Bluetooth Mesh capabilities in realistic environments.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and upgrade the company's showroom, where clients and representatives are toured through all of the system capabilities and configuration options.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and upgrade the internal building-wide Bluetooth Mesh network, ensuring it operates on the latest released firmware, monitoring for issues, and serving as a live testbed for ongoing validation.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience in hardware and embedded firmware commissioning/testing, preferably with wireless protocols such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Bluetooth Mesh, ZigBee or WiFi.
  • Hands-on proficiency with test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, packet sniffers), flashing tools and development boards.
  • Excellent documentation skills for test plans, bug reports, and functional diagrams.
  • Ability to work independently and diligently in a lab environment, maintaining an orderly and functional space.
  • Understanding of mesh networking concepts, provisioning, relay nodes, proxy/gateway roles, and security features in Bluetooth Mesh.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific deployment challenges (lighting controls, sensor networks) in sectors like hospitality, industrial, or commercial is highly desirable.
  • Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., Bash or Python) for test execution is a plus.
  • Experience with firmware/embedded programming (e.g. C) is very desirable.

Hours, compensation and benefits:

Full-time, on site at corporate offices located in Clearwater, FL - Hourly rate starts at $25 per hour, negotiable based on certifications, skillset and experience.

After 30-day waiting period employees become eligible for Medical, Dental and Vision insurance, paid holidays and paid time off that increase with longevity. After an initial 90-Day waiting period, employees may participate in the company-sponsored 401(k).
